* O’Happy Day @ JAM

I popped into JAM today to pick up a forgotten camera charger and was thirlled to see happy women in the kitchen creating Scrap Tags with local Five Times Blessed artist Nancy Mills.

Shauna introduced us and mentioned Nancy loved buttons too. Come to find out Nancy bought a collection of buttons from a family member for $65 and it was valued at $25,000. She did many things with those buttons. She sold most on ebay and created different items with some of them. Selling them gave her the opportunity to travel back east and recover all the furniture in her home among other things.

The button windfall came at a time in her life when her teenage son Ethan was batteling cancer. She said it felt like the buttons happened for a reason. After her son passed she folded up that creativity and put  it away for awhile. She has since unfolded it and has started creating again.

She has great perspective and insight regarding both experiences and she shared her thoughts with me. She said it's unbelievable that she found such creativity during & even after going thru such suffering.

Wait til you see her mixed media artwork on facebook & etsy.I loved how the "O'Happy Day' made me smile when I saw it on etsy, so, I treated myself to it. It will look lovely on my wall of art.

She too loves buttons and seemed tickled at my jewelry pieces that I showed her. She invited me to her button books and I look forward to spending more time with her.

All I can say is, O' Happy Day, I made a new friend.
