Last week I asked my dad to make me a sandwich board to place on the street pointing guests to my trunk show.
I thought it would be a two hour project. I was wrong. I thought it would be a easy. It wasn't.
Dad sketched it out on graph paper, found wood in hubbys shop, I went to Home Depot for spray paint & the tinkering began.
After the boards were built, he decided to print the letters out on my computer to create a stencil. After they printed in the largest font
possible, he taped them all together and then began the cutting. He used an exacto knife to cut the letters into a stencil.
All those swirls, it was very time consuming. Notice the little taped legs holding middle pieces in place.
He listened to the D'Backs whikle he worked into the evening.I planned to paint the boards the ovarian cancer teal/blue color, it came
out baby blue. Oh well, I still like it. We placed the stencil on the first board, he sprayed, we lifted it off, he cussed. He said the paint
"fogged", slid under the stencil, & he hated it. I loved it. From afar no one would notice. He was disappointed it didn't look more crisp
after all the work he had done on them. I can understand.
I love that he made them for me. I think they are perfect.
Thanks Dad.
You dad is amazing and his work is meticulous. I know he must be so proud of you.
Thanks Kay, these hands have created so many for things for me in my lifetime. I'm truly grateful.
